Q: Do I need VISA and/or PASSPORT when travelling to your destinations?
A: Scandinavian and EU citizens do not require a VISA, however, at all times it is necessary to bring along a valid passport. The traveller is always responsible to have valid travel documents to show when necessary.

Passengers with special needs must be at the check-in counter 2 hours before departure.

Passengers who fail to comply with these terms can not expect to travel with the Norrøna on the planned sailing. Passengers who fail to comply with these terms are pr. definition "No-Show" passengers; meaning that they will not get their tickets refunded.

Q: What time do I have to leave my cabin?
A: At the latest 1 hour before arrival.                                  

 

Q: Is there a hospital onboard Norröna?
A: M/F Norröna is equipped with a hospital. The hospital can supply some medical medicine as required by the authorities.The Chief Officer is the medical officer on board and is able to assist with first aid. The Chief Officer is in directly contact with the main hospital in Tórshavn if professional advice is needed. If necessary doctors assistant can be transported to the ship by helicopter or the passenger can be picked up and transported to the nearest hospital. It is possible to get doctor assistance by helicopter in all areas when Norröna is sailing.

Q: What if I easily get seasick?
A: If needed antiseasick pills can be purchased at the Reception.                       

  
Q: Currency on board?
A: Currency onboard is DKK. However, you can pay with EUR, NOK, USD, GBP, SEK and ISK notes (not coins) and in this regard the ships' exchange rate of the day is the valid one. It is advisable to exchange money before you go on board.                             

    

Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: Please check with local authorities regarding regulations for import of pets. Transport of pets against supplementary charge and according to special regulations as agreed with SML. Se also www.hfs.fo

                                

Q: Is there special facilities for disabled travellers?
A: Norröna is equipped with 6 cabins especially facilitating disabled travellers (see cabin descriptions)

Q: Do Wheelchair users have easy access to all areas on board the ship?
A: 2 Lifts are in the front and at the back of the ship. The lifts are facilitating deck 2 to deck 8. The pool and fitness area are on deck 1, so no lift is available to this area. Wheelchair users do need assistance to access the outer decks. Otherwise, it is easy to come around the ship with a Wheelchair. Please always inform disability when you book your travel.

Q: How do I get from Seyðisfjörður to Reykjavík by public bus?
A: Bus from Seyðisfjörður to Egilstaðir and than from Egilstaðir to Akureyri. Stop over 1 night and then from Akureyri to Reykjavík
A: Bus from Seyðisfjörður to Egilstaðir and then from Egilstaðir to Höfn. Stop over 1 night and then from Höfn at to Reykjavík.

Q: How long is it to drive from Seyðisfjörður to Reykjavík in one go (shortest way)?
A: By car approx. 7-8 hours

Q: Do I pay Diesel Tax in Iceland?
A: No
 
Q: How much luggage can I bring with me on board?
A: Up to approx. 200 kg. personal belonging is allowed. If the luggage contains commercial goods, please contact our freight department.

Q: Can I bring my BABY CARRIAGE on board the ship?
A: Yes, baby carriage can be brought onboard and can be used for transportation around the ship. However, for safety reasons the baby carriage must not be left on the corridors but can be kept inside the cabin.

Q: On which deck are the various facilities on board?
A: Deck 7: Conference room.

A: Deck 6: Naustbar, Norröna Buffét & Simmer.

A: Deck 5: Viking Club, Reception, Tax Free & Perfume Shop, Cafeteria & cinema.

A: Deck 1: Fitness room, Pool, Sauna & Solarium.

Q: Can you order a wake-up call from the reception?
A: This is not a regular service, but will be on individual request at the reception. If in a De Lux cabin, the wake up call can be made via the telephone from the reception.

Q: Do I have access to the car deck during sailing?
A: The regulation says: “no, admittance to the car deck while sailing”.

Q: What is the price for the solarium?
A: DKK 45 for 12 minutes. You have to buy pullets at the reception onboard.

Q: Is there someone looking after children swimming in the pool and fitness area?
A: Parents have at all time the responsibility for their children at the swimming pool and fitness area. Children under 15 years must always be accompanied by parents.

 

Q: Am I allowed to smoke inside while onboard?
A: No. New regulation for smoking has been declared by the Home Government in Faroe Islands to be set in force on the 1st of July. This means for the Norröna, that it is only allowed to smoke on open weather decks; this will be in force for both passengers and crew. Violations of the law will be penalty with heavy fines.
